| Fellows
are Members, who are over 25 years of age with at least six years
seniority in the shipbroking industry/business – they are entitled call
themselves ‘Chartered Shipbroker’. |
| In addition
to the benefits listed on the Members benefits page in this section,
Fellows are able to serve on the Controlling Council and be elected to
Vice and Chairman of ICS. |

of ICS, please |
| Complete and sign the
application for membership form online or obtain one from the local
branch. |
| Print, sign and submit
it either to your local branch or forward it direct to ICS head office
in London. |
| This extract from the
Byelaws outlines the conditions necessary for promotion to membership. |
| Members wishing to apply for
Fellowship need to comply with the following conditions: |
| Shall not be less than
25 years of age |
| Shall be a Member |
| Shall been engaged for
the six years immediately preceding the date of application in the
office of a person, firm or company or body carrying on the business of
a shipbroker and shall have been for not less than one year either: |
| A principle in a firm
or a director of a company carrying on the business or profession of
shipbrokers in the UK or elsewhere or: |
| A person holding a
position of responsibility in an office of any firm or company or other
body carrying on the business of shipbrokers in the UK or elsewhere; |
| Shall have satisfied the
Controlling Council that he or she is a fit and proper person to become
a Fellow; |
| Upon successful
promotion and payment of the appropriate fee, the candidate will
receive a certificate stating that he or she is a Fellow of the
Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers and will thereafter be able to add
the initials FICS after his or her name and be referred to as a
‘Chartered Shipbroker’. The certificate at all times remains the
property of the Institute and has to be returned if for any reason the
person ceases to be a Fellow (at which time the right to be called a
Fellow will cease). |
| Those who meet the above
conditions may apply for promotion to Fellowship of the Institute. |
| Subscriptions
are set each year by the Executive Council. The subscription year lasts
from 1 June to 31 May. |
