ICS offers Foundation
Diploma and Advanced Diploma |

The Diplomas are
designed for those who are either new to the industry or do not want to take
the full ICS course and qualify as a member of the Institute but do want to
further their knowledge of the shipping industry.
They are internationally
recognised qualifications. |

Foundation Diploma consists of the
Introduction to Shipping course from
Group 1
of the Professional Qualifying Examinations (PQE) plus an additional subject of
the candidate’s choice from
Group

Advanced Diploma
consists of the Shipping
Business course from

of the Professional Qualifying Examinations (PQE) plus an additional subject of
the candidate’s choice from

Candidates must sit both
the compulsory subject and their chosen
Specialist subject in the same examination year.

| METHOD OF STUDY |
| The Diploma can
be studied for in the same way as the PQE.

| EXAMINATION |
| The Foundation
Diploma examination takes place in April every year at specified centres
worldwide (see Examination
Centres for full details). PLEASE NOTE that any candidate wishing to
take the exam, other than in a specified centre, needs to contact ICS in London
no later than October 31st to see if this can be arranged. Supplementary
charges may be payable. Exemptions are not given for candidates sitting for the
Foundation Diploma

| All candidates must be over
16 years old. |
| ENTRY PROCEDURE |

All candidates for ICS
examinations have to
register as students of the
Institute before they may
enter for the examinations.
