HEALTH AND SAFETY AWARENESS IN THE DOCK ENVIRONMENT

The course is very interactive and appropriate for any employee or Agent that comes into contact with the dock environment eg shipbrokers, agents, port employees, Missions to Seafarers personnel, fire brigade, harbour police, customs and excise staff, ships chandlers and any other person who may have to visit a vessel in a dock.
This one day course is delivered by a series of lectures and workshops.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
To raise the Health, Safety and Security awareness of all employees that have to board a ship in dock
To improve the Risk Literacy of those working or visiting vessels in a dock environment.
To improve the Safety Management both of the Individual and the Employer
To improve one's ability to dynamically assess the risks that are present in a dock environment, which are increased more particularly in the specific area of access and egress to vessels.
To ensure that their employees and visitors can access and leave vessels in a safe manner and make them aware of the risks entailed.
To cover the responsibilities that both Employers and Employees have under current Health and Safety Legislation in the UK.
To define the "hazard and risk" and assist the individual to carry out a Dynamic Risk Assessment prior to the individual carrying out any activities within a dock environment.
To cover briefly the ISPS Code and how it effects an individual's access to ports.
To cover the different risks, hazards, consequences and appropriate controls associated with various vessels and cargoes.
