PROFESSIONAL QUALIFYING EXAMINATIONS
 
INSTITUTE OF CHARTERED SHIPBROKERS SYLLABUS
    The ICS syllabus is divided into the Groups as below.

    To achieve PQE, candidates must pass, or gain an exemption from, all Group 1 subjects plus 3 others from Group
    2/3.

   Candidates may select the following options in respect of Groups 2 and 3
 
  Group 2 Group 3
Option A Two Subjects One Subject
Option B Three Subjects -
Option C One Subject Two Subjects
Shipping Business must be taken in the first year. The remaining subjects may be taken in any order but candidates must sit a minimum of three subjects at their first attempt ('sitting' means a genuine effort to answer five questions in each paper). Holders of the Foundation Diploma only have to take 2 subjects (Shipping Business plus one other) in their first sitting for PQE. The PQE must be completed within five years from the first sitting.
