| ICS offers the opportunity to join a
professional membership organisation with all the career benefits that come not
only from having initials after your name but joining a vast global network of
like minded professionals. |
| To join ICS, you need to have passed the
Professional Qualifying Examinations (see syllabus section for full details)
and have spent an aggregated time of four years in the industry. Alternatively
you can write a 15,000 word dissertation on a subject of your choice that has
to be approved by the Institute. Most people though qualify through the
examination route. |
| In addition ICS offers the internationally recognised
qualification - the Foundation Diploma. |
| Staff with ICS qualifications subscribe to a
common worldwide standard of professional competence and conduct. They have a
thorough understanding of all aspects of shipping including law, insurance and
economics enabling them to all communicate effectively with specialist
professionals.
|
"ICS
is the only source of professional and vocational qualifications
in shipping. Take it from us, all other things being equal,
the ICS qualified candidate will get the job."
