| Student membership is for those people
who have registered with ICS with the intention of sitting the Professional
Qualifying Examinations or the Foundation Diploma.

| They may apply to enter the Institute’s PQE or
Foundation Diploma |
| They may apply for exemptions from ICS exams on a
case-by-case basis |
| They may attend ICS functions including branch events
at a discounted price |
| They receive the Institute’s journal, Shipping

| To be eligible to apply
for student membership, candidates need to have:

Gained passes in two subjects at GCE ‘A’ Level or the equivalent
outside the UK education system.
OR
Have completed one year’s employment in an organisation which has a
bonafide connection with shipping business including serving at sea.
OR
Have passed the Institute’s Foundation Diploma in Shipping. |
